Barnes: Can look to to continue his rapping career once again

Well, it seemed a strange appointment at the time and it's lasted less than four months.

And it only seemed a matter of time before he went with Tranmere fans starting an online petition for Barnes to go.

At least it wasn't the week before Blues played them as usually happens but it would have been nice if they'd kept him until November 25th, they might get somebody good now!

A statement issued by the club this morning said the following: "Tranmere Rovers have today terminated the contracts of Manager John Barnes and Assistant Manager Jason McAteer with immediate effect. The pair joined Tranmere in June 2009 but just two league wins in the opening 11 league games have left the Club in 22nd position. Physiotherapist Les Parry has been placed in temporary charge assisted by Reserve Team Manager Shaun Garnett in preparation for Monday's home game against Stockport County at Prenton Park. The search for a new manager will begin immediately."

Rovers Chairman Peter Johnson said: "Unfortunately results have not gone our way this season and we are at the wrong end of the table. We must now focus on finding the best possible candidate to help us climb the division. I urge all supporters to get behind Les, Shaun and the team on Monday night when we play at home to Stockport County."

Nobody had obviously told Barnes before his morning press conference Friday, as he was looking ahead to Monday's match with Stockport!

Former boss Ronnie Moore, who took them to minutes from the play-offs last season, doesn't look that bad now!
