Taylor leaves Wycombe as Farmers & Dons make move on top two

Last updated : 12 October 2009 By westfield shrimper

The former Shrimpers player and manager Peter Taylor has left Wycombe Wanferers along with assistant manager Junior Lewis.

Spud guided the Chairboys to promotion from League Two last season at the first attempt but his side have made a poor start to the present term.

His team have scored just nine goals in 11 league games and are in 23rd place in the table, a position confirmed after losing 3-2 away to Gillingham which saw head of youth development Richard Dobson taking caretaker charge.

With former managers such as Martin O'Neill, John Gregory, John Gorman and Paul Lambert, Hayes is confident he'll get the right man to see them safe.

He continued: "Wycombe have a good reputation for appointing managers and I am sure that we will get plenty of high calibre applicants. Peter's successor will inherit an excellent squad of players and with 35 games still to play, we are confident that our league position will improve."
