The cash-strapped Edgeley Park outfit have at last been taken over by the 2015 Group consortium in time for their return to League Two where they open their account against Southend on August 7th.

The man in charge during an even more miserable season than ours, yes it is possible, was Greg Ablett, and he will not have the chance to make amends as the new owners have decided he's surplus to requirements, leaving the door open for former boss Jim Gannon to return.

A club spokesman said: "Gary Ablett and his management team have left the club by mutual consent. The new board are open-minded about who will come in but no decision has yet been made."
