Horsfield: Resuming normal service
Geoff Horsfield: Normal service resumed at Vale Park?

Chants of 'Gannon out' were heard at Accrington Stanley as the Valiants fell to 3-0 defeat, manager Jim Gannon has now only won four out of 15 games since he replaced Micky Adams who left the club to join Championship Sheffield United.

Adding to that assistant boss Geoff Horsfield only returned to work earlier this week following a two-week investigation into his well-documented bus row with Gannon, which occurred on the way to the club's League Two match at Aldershot.

Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt on Wednesday revealed the bust-up had been dealt with internally in an amicable manner, simply stating the duo were back to fulfilling the same roles.

meanwhile, Horsfield insists there will be no problem between them, telling www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk: "Of course I can work with Jim Gannon, and he's got to work with me, because I'm the assistant manager at least until the end of the season. I was brought here to help the club get promoted and I want to finish that job. It's not about me or Jim Gannon - it's about Port Vale and getting promoted. Me and the manager talk all the time, so we didn't need a clear-the-air chat because it all got sorted internally."

Horsfield, who was appointed by Adams, sees his current contract expire in the summer, and he continued: "Until I'm told otherwise I'll keep doing my job. We'll have to see what happens then, but of course I want to stay at Vale because the club have been great to me and given me the chance to get on the coaching ladder."
