Colchester United 0 Peterborough United 1

Charlie Lee's 41st minute goal fired Peterborough past Colchester and sealed Posh's second successive promotion as MK Dons also lost.

After a tight opening 40 minutes Posh broke the deadlock when George Boyd found Charlie Lee on the edge of the box and Lee fired beyond the reach of Dean Gerken.

Gerken denied Craig Mackail-Smith a second before the break and Aaron Mclean, Mackail-Smith and George Boyd all wasted chances before the hour mark.

But the misses didn't prove costly as The U's rarely threatened and with news of Walsall winning at MK Dons the Posh fans spent the final ten minutes celebrating.

Millwall 2 Leyton Orient 1

Former Leyton Orient striker Gary Alexander came back to haunt his former club with two goals as Millwall recovered from a goal down to claim all three points.

Borient blew a golden chance to grab the lead in the sixth minute when Charlie Daniels was brought down in the box by Andy Frampton but Scott McGleish's penalty was brilliantly saved by David Forde.

Jamie Jones was also in fine form as he denied Jason Price and James Henry before the interval and his heroics paid off when McGleish played in Simon Church to beat Forde from close range on 47.

But Millwall were level 20 minutes from time when Alexander slid in Lewis Grabban's cross and he snatched all of the points four minutes from time by heading in Marc Laird's free-kick.

MK Dons 0 Walsall 1

Jabo Ibehre stunning second-half strike grabbed Walsall a deserved win and ended MK Dons automatic promotion hopes.

Sam Baldock had two great chances for the Dons before the break but found Clayton Ince in fine form in The Saddlers goal.

And the visitors hit the front on the hour when Ibehre outmuscled Jude Stirling and blasted past Willy Gueret from 25-yards.

Dons piled forward in search of a leveller but couldn't beat Ince as he saved from Mark Wright, Jason Puncheon and Baldock again.

Hartlepool United 0 Leeds United 1

Jermaine Beckford's 33rd goal of the season earned Leeds all of the points and kept Hartlepool looking nervously over their shoulder.

Pools threatened first with Joel Porter's 20-yarder forcing a fine save from Casper Ankergren in the third minute before Luciano Becchio tested Jan Budtz at the other end.

But Leeds had the lead in the 58th minute Ben Parker's cross picked out Beckford in the box and he turned sharply and fired a low shot past Budtz.

Bradley Johnson was denied a second by Budtz as Leeds continued to press but Beckford's strike proved enough.

Tranmere Rovers 1 Yeovil Town 1

Antony Kay's second-half volley maintained Tranmere's long unbeaten run and moved them back into the play-off places.

Rovers striker Ian Moore forced a save from midweek goalscoring hero Chris Weale early-on before Andros Townsend brought the best out of Danny Coyne.

And it was The Glovers who went in front midway through the second period when on-loan Tottenham youngster Obika cut in from the left and slid a shot past Coyne.

But 12 minutes from time Rovers were level when captain Kay brilliantly volleyed home from 15-yards to extend their unbeaten run at home to 18 matches.

Oldham Athletic 1 Southend United 1

Second-half substitute Lee Barnard was the hero as Southend and Oldham shared the spoils in a drab encounter at Boundary Park.

Southend went close in the sixth minute when former Crystal Palace frontman Dougie Freedman fired just wide of Mark Crossley's net.

The game sprung into the life six minutes after the break when Neil Eardley notched his second goal of the season from the spot after Deane Smalley had been brought down by Anthony Grant.

But substitute Barnard, who replaced Freedman at half-time, popped up with half an hour remaining to earn a share of the spoils.

Huddersfield Town 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 2

Andy Booth notched his 149th goal in his final home appearance for Huddersfield but it was not enough as Brighton twice came from behind to earn a point.

The former Sheffield Wednesday striker, who is retiring at the end of the season, grabbed his goal in the 16th minute when he headed home Robbie Williams' corner.

But Calvin Andrew, who replaced the injured Gary Hart after nine minutes, put Brighton level when he rose highest to head home Dean Cox's corner.

Michael Collins put Huddersfield clear 12 minutes after the break but Lloyd Owusu's 16th of the season took the gloss off Booth's emotional farewell.

Swindon Town 2 Bristol Rovers 1 (played at 12 noon)

Swindon striker Simon Cox's double secured The Robins survival and moved him to 30 goals for the season.

Cox was gifted his first of the game in the fourth minute when Bristol Rovers keeper Steve Phillips collided with Byron Anthony and Cox rolled the ball into the empty net from the edge of the box.

But The Pirates were level in the 20th minute when Jerel Ifil's clearance hit substitute Darryl Duffy and flew into the net.

But Cox sent The County Ground into raptures ten minutes from time when he hammered home Kevin Amankwaah's cross.

Northampton Town 2 Hereford United 1

Jason Crowe's second-half wonder strike dealt Northampton's survival hopes a huge boost at the hands of already-relegated Hereford.

Andrew Holt had sent the home fans crazy early on when he made no mistake from close range after good work from Adebayo Akinfenwa in the 29th minute.

Andrew Williams put The Bulls level when he smashed home an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box six minutes after the break.

But Northampton weren't to be denied twenty minutes from time when Holt turned provider teeing up Crowe for the unstoppable winner which leaves The Cobblers two points outside the drop zone with one game remaining.

Cheltenham Town 1 Carlisle United 1

Drissa Diallo's second-half penalty wasn't enough to save Cheltenham from the drop but it did put a huge dent in nine-man Carlisle's survival hopes.

Diallo struck from the spot eight minutes from time after Michael Bridges, one of two sent off for Carlisle, deliberately handballed in the box.

It had all looked rosy for United when former Leeds left back Ian Harte gave them the perfect start curling an unstoppable free kick into the top left hand corner after 19 minutes.

But left-back Evan Horwood received his marching orders in the 67th minute before Diallo broke the vistors hearts late on leaving The Blues two points from safety with just one game left.
