Plymouth: Playing the waiting game

Pilgrims without a prayer: 'Even Jesus wouldn't take an interest in Argyle'

The Shrimpers scheduled Saturday opponents Plymouth Argyle, bottom of League Two with one point after a 2-0 defeat to barnet tuesday evening, continue to see their very existence hang by a thread.

Local media had suggested that bidder Kevin Heaney's Bishop International (BIL) had pulled out of a £6m deal to bring the club out of administration, buy Home Park and the surrounding land, and pass it on to acting chairman Peter Risdale, he of Leeds and Cardiff fame, for a quid!

I'm still here says the businessman talking to BBC South West: "The administrators are entitled to consider other bids and we have not quit."

One of those rival bids is hotelier James Brent whom the Plymouth Argyle Fans Trust would like to see close the deal.

The Pilgrims faithful say they would like to see a deal done with Brent as in theor opinion the wrong choice was made originally by the administrator and Mr. Brent offers them a chance to rectify that

Plymouth Argyle Fans Trust chairman Chris Webb said: "Our message to the key stakeholders is that James Brent is the only show in town. James in engaging with all the key stakeholders across this week including football creditors and the city council and we're hopeful that something can happen by Friday,"

Brent himself said on BBC Devon Tuesday: "We're spending this week gathering views of key stakeholders. We hope to be in a position by the end of this week to know whether to participate in the rescue of the club.I've promised by Friday morning that I'll let people know if there is anything I can do after discussing it with the key stakeholders."

Players and staff will be briefed on the latest situation on Thursday by Peter Ridsdale after holding talks with the PFA Monday along with James Brent.

Local Argyle blogger http://green-army.blogspot.com asked who now?: So more bids are coming in to takeover PAFC after Heaney allegedly has walked away from the club due to his claimed FA indecision. Some of these bidders have even wildly been claimed to be friends of Michael Jackson/Uri Geller! Even Jesus wouldn't take an interest in Argyle. But why are there suddenly more people hovering round - do the jackals smell a cadaver?

Blimey, let's hope we see a Pilgrims team stepping out at Roots Hall Saturday afternoon for a quiet game of footy!
