Millwall secured a precious away at MK Dons that nudged them above their promotion rivals and into third place in the table.

The home side started well and Jason puncheon shot wide after rounding goalkeeper David Forde, while Luke Chadwick also missed a decent chance.

However, Mark Laird put the visitors in front against the run of play as he glanced in James Henry's free-kick.

The Dons did find the net as Jason Puncheon turned in Jemal Johnson's cross but he was ruled to be offside.

Scunthorpe United 3 Hereford United 0

Scunthorpe helped their League One play-off hopes with a win over relegation-threatened Hereford.

Gary Hooper put the home side ahead when he fired an angled shot past keeper Peter Gulasci for his 26th goal of the season.

Hooper then turned provider as he set up winger Kevan Hurst for his second goal in successive home games.

Scunthorpe completed the win after striker Paul Hayes rounded off a flowing attacking move.

Cheltenham Town 1 Tranmere Rovers 0

Tranmere dropped out of the playoff places thanks to a defeat at rock-bottom Cheltenham Town with David Bird's early goal the difference between the two teams.

Bird slammed home the winner in only the third minute with a 20-yard left-foot volley.

The hosts were dominant throughout and could have extended their lead through Nicolas Bignall but the striker's shot was blocked.

Tranmere threatened but Craig Curran had a header deflected wide and Anthony Kay headed over from eight yards.

Swindon Town 3 Southend United 0

Swindon moved above Yeovil and out of the drop-zone after a Hal Robson-Kanu strike and two Simon Cox penalties fired them to a strong home win at against the Blues who are now six points outside the top six.

Crewe Alexandra 1 Bristol Rovers 1

Darryl Duffy's goal cancelled out Dennis Lawrence's effort as Bristol Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to six games but may have lost out on a play-off place in the process.

Rovers' Jeff Hughes hit the crossbar in the early minutes and Crewe's Joel Grant had a first-half goal disallowed.

Crewe took the lead on 70 minutes when Lawrence had an easy tap-in after Clayton Donaldson's header hit the bar.

Walsall 3 Brighton & Hove Albion 0

Walsall sailed to victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Bescot Stadium with goals from Troy Deeney, Mark Bradley and Anthony Gerrard.

The home side took the lead when midfielder Mark Bradley drove in Alex Nicholls's low cross.

Relegation-battling Brighton had little to offer going forward and Troy Deeney added Walsall's second from another Nicholls cross.

Bradley had hit the bar before defender Anthony Gerrard headed the home side's third to wrap up victory before the half-time whistle.
