Iron and Cobblers face last day nerves at opposite ends

Scunthorpe United 3 Cheltenham Town 0

The Iron moved into the League One play-off places with a comprehensive victory over the relegated Robins.

Scunny took the lead in the 36th minute when Paul Hayes netted from close range and doubled their advantage four minutes later when Cliff Byrne found the back of the net.

And Henri Lansbury drove home a third midway through the second half, before being stretchered off with a suspected broken leg following a challenge by Cheltenham's Yuri Berchiche.

The game ended on a sour note when Yuri Berchiche's challenge left Lansbury with a suspected broken leg.

Scunthorpe must now avoid defeat in their final game of the season to guarantee a spot in the play-offs. Ironically that's at home to Tranmere Rovers who must win to rob them of that sixth place prize.

Northampton Town 0 MK Dons 1

The Cobblers's League One status remains under-threat after they were beaten by the third-place Franchise FC.

Aaron Wilbraham grabbed the only goal of the game for the visitors when he converted a cross from Jason Puncheon.

The home side applied some late pressure but Luke Guttridge's shot was blocked and Adam Watts had an effort cleared off the line.

The result leaves Northampton needing a point from their final game of the season against Leeds to confirm League Two status next season.

As it's at Elland Road there will be some concern at Sixfields but with a goal difference of only minus 1 while Crewe have minus 20 and playing Leicester that spot looks sealed up.

That leaves Brighton at home who should see off nothing to play for Stockport, but Carlisle, who have to beat Millwall at home, is a different matter. Though their play-off status is assured the Lions have a chance of third place. Tough call, this one's going down to the last kick on Saturday.
