'I am No.1, well maybe not in Lancashire'

The 41-year-old former Dons boss has returned to the land of the concrete cows only a year after he left for Blackburn Rovers. The ex-England captain signed a two year contract last Friday.

Ince's appointment will be confirmed at a press conference on Monday and then fly out to Portugal where the Franchise have set up a pre-season training camp.

The Buckinghamshire club were looking for a new manager following the departure of Roberto Di Matteo to West Bromwhich Albion on Tuesday and certainly didn't hang around.

Chairman Pete Winkelman was delighted at bringing Ince back, who brought the League Two Championship and Johnstone's Paint Trophy double to stadium:mk.

Winkleman told the Milton Keynes Citizen: "I'm absolutely thrilled to bring back Paul to Milton Keynes. He enjoyed incredible success during his first spell with us and showed himself more than worthy of a shot at the Premier League. Paul remains one of the most talented young managers in this country and I'm enourmously excited about what he can help us achieve."
