Former Shrimpers strikers set league alight as Stockport stun Shakers & Bulls batter Robins

Paterson: Netted a brace

It just had to happen, Matt Paterson scores on his debut for Stockport

Debutant Matt Paterson, who only arrived on loan from the Shrimpers this week, nearly opened his account twice in the opening minutes, and his all-action game, are you reading this Luggy, saw the home side's confidence grow as the half progressed!

However, it was after the break on 66 minutes that Paterson's strike from the edge of the area opened the scoring for County via the Bury keepers out-stretched arm.

Stockport went on to win the game 2-1 over the promotion chasers and give themselves some hope after a miserable few weeks that has seen them sink to the bottom and stare the conference oin the face.

Will the loanee from Southend kick-start a great escape?!!

Fairhurst: Set for Shrimpers switch

Waide Fairhurst: Bugger all for us, a debut brace for the Bulls!

Talking about loanees, and this gets crazier, Waide Fairhurst scored twice, yes that's two more than he scored for us in a month, on his debut for Hereford United in their 3-0 win away to Cheltenham that gives them some breathing space at the bottom of League Two.

Fairhurst, on loan from Championship Doncaster Rovers, gave Hereford a 23rd-minute lead with a crisp finish in off the post following a neat lay off, following up with his second and the Bulls third in the last minute with a clinical finish from eight yards curled into the far corner!

Give me strength, but at least Antonio German didn't score for Yeovil, then again he only got on the pitch with 12 minutes left, wait till he plays a full game!

League Two

The call off didn't hurt the Shrimpers too much, now with some games in hand over a few of the play-off clubs and six points off the top seven in 11th place.

Though having to visit Accrington on a Tuesday night in front of naff all support might not be much of an advantage!
