Could Tilly take another team down?: The relegation rumble rolls on

Tilson: Warned players
Steve Tilson in danger of taking two different sides down in two successive seasons
.
It's easier for legends to remain that way when they are not involved anymore in whatever got them to that staus in the first place, especially if they have moved on to pastures new.

Only a small minority wanted him to go, and Ron Martin, but looking at what new Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock has done with no money and not much of a squad when he joined in the summer it's been nothing short of amazing, taking the side to the brink of the play-offs.

However, former Blues boss Steve Tilson on the other hand enters the final fortnight with his new team Lincoln City stands only two points from the league's bottom two and a second successive relegation after taking Southend United into the basement division last time around.

Tilly told the PA Easter Monday after a 2-0 home defeat to Cheltenham: "The players have got to start looking at themselves. The players have got us in to this position and they are the ones who have got to get us out of it. Our fate is in our own hands. We keep worrying about other results but we've got to be more concerned about what we do rather than everybody else. We've still got two games left. We haven't been playing that badly."

To be honest not many teams go down on 47 points let alone the magical 50, and it still looks odds-on that Barnet will join Stockport County in the bottom two, though Northampton will find it hard at home to play-off hopefuls Stevenage, the Bees will not enjoy travelling to another top seven side in Accrington.

Still, it shows that Tilly is maybe not the messaih the Imps felt they had found at last, especially after the Shrimpers 2-1 defeat at Sincil Bank last month when many of the Lincolnshire faithful felt they had found a tactical genius, something we never believed Tills was in the first place, and that in old Luggs we might not have a bad deal, blimey we might be putting up flags thanking Ron Martin ourselves, or maybe not.

Only time will tell of course, presuming we're playing in the same division next term, and 500-odd Imps fans will be travelling to Oxford on free coaches sponsored by a couple of directors to help push their team into doing just that.

For EEB it's all about the best drinking, our esteemed editor is desperate for Hereford to remian in the League, he's still waking up in a cold sweat on trying to right a pub crawl for Crawley!

For all what's going on at the bottom for the joy of Grimsby away during 2011/12, actually Lincoln would appreciate that one, how about Darlington, take a look below and just appreciate that after our own summer of madness, remember some of the things written after our 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat at Dartford, we aren't down there with them.
