MK Dons 2 Crewe Alexandra 2

Gylfi Sigurdsson kept his cool from the spot as Crewe grabbed a draw after trailing 2-0 in the first 20 minutes.

Keeper John Ruddy, left stranded by a deflected Aaron Wilbraham shot for the first, then allowed a weak Jason Puncheon effort to sneak in.

Mark Carrington's 77th-minute header brought Crewe back into contention.

Three minutes later they were level when on-loan midfielder Sigurdsson converted a spot kick after keeper Willy Gueret had felled Alan Sheehan.

Cheltenham Town 1 Oldham Athletic 1

A last-minute goal from Danny Whitaker gave manager Joe Royle his first point since returning to Oldham at bottom club Cheltenham.

The Robins had taken a 31st minute lead when Leon Constantine played a one-two with Frankie Artus and cooly fired past Oldham keeper Shane Supple.

Oldham piled on the pressure with Fabio Ferreira, Lewis Alessandra and Reuben Hazell going close for the visitors.

And with time running out Whitaker punished some tired defending to level.

Northampton Town 3 Swindon Town 4

Simon Cox helped himself to a hat-trick with the striker almost single-handedly kept The Robins' heads above water this term and he scored on 18, 31 and 79 minutes.

Adebayo Akinfenwa scored the opener for the hosts from a rebound after a Giles Coke shot was blocked but Cox converted Anthony McNamee's cross to level.

Cox put the visitors ahead and then set up Billy Paynter for the third before Danny Jackman pulled a goal back for the Cobblers with a superb free-kick.

Cox sealed his hat-trick, while Ikechi Anya's strike made for a tense finish.

Carlisle United 1 Hereford United 2

Hereford ended a run of five defeats and gave themselves a fighting chance of beating the drop at the expense of fellow strugglers Carlisle.

Steve Guinan scored the Bulls' first, taking advantage of a defensive block to fire in an angled 15-yard shot.

They grabbed their second midway through the half with Guinan crossing for Ben Smith to slide home.

On the stroke of half-time Michael Bridges scored what was ultimately a United consolation with a 25-yard shot.
