Davey: Given the boot

Davey out; is Spud next?

Well they have only one game in ten, and that on the opening day of the season against Crewe!

So ta-ta Simon Davey and Andy Fensome, bet you wish you'd stayed at Darlington now!

A club statement said: "The club decided to terminate their contracts after an unacceptable start to the season."

Hereford physio Jamie Pitman has been named caretaker manager with the side's 2-0 defeat to Barnet Saturday seen as the final straw for the previous management regime only a week after the shrimpers beat the Bulls 3-1 at Edgar Street.

Chairman David Keyte said: "As a club we are bitterly disappointed and deeply concerned at the results and performances so far this season and feel we have to take action."

Former Barnsley boss Davey succeeded the now Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner in the close season after leaving Darlington, who he joined last April but could not prevent them being relegated to the Blue Square Bet Premier!

He decided to leave that job in June by email, so don't expect any tears to be shed on Teeside!
