Leicester City 4 Cheltenham Town 0

Leicester moved a step closer to promotion with a thumping win over rock-bottom Cheltenham at The Walkers Stadium.

The Foxes were quickly into their stride and went in front on 13 minutes, Steve Howard heading home Tom Cleverley's cross.

In the 22nd minute, Matty Fryatt latched onto Steve Howard's flick and slammed a shot into the bottom corner for his 23rd of the season.

On-loan winger Cleverley made it three on 66 minutes before setting up Matt Oakley to seal an emphatic win.

Hartlepool United 1 Peterborough United 2

Peterborough stayed second with a battling win over Hartlepool at Victoria Park.

Posh took the lead in the 10th minute when Dean Keates fired a free-kick into the top corner after Sam Collins fouled Aaron McLean.

Hartlepool equalised in bizarre fashion eight minutes before half time when Andy Monkhouse scored direct from a corner.

The visitors were back in front soon after the break when George Boyd grabbed his tenth of the season from inside the six-yard box, and his goal proved decisive.

Swindon Town 1 Milton Keynes Dons 1

MK Dons lost ground on the top two as they were held to a draw by struggling Swindon at The County Ground.

Billy Paynter headed The Robins in front on 17 minutes from Anthony McNamee's cross.

But The Dons were not behind for long, Aaron Wilbraham grabbing his 13th of the season from close range in the 27th minute.

Dons were unable to find a way past a stubborn Swindon defence, but the draw meant Swindon slipped into the drop zone.

Huddersfield Town 1 Millwall 2

James Henry scored a last-gasp winner as play-off hopefuls Millwall ended Huddersfield's nine-game unbeaten home run.

After a frustrating first half, Millwall took the lead in the 68th minute as Mark Laird beat Alex Smithies with a low shot from just outside the box.

The lead was short-lived however, as just five minutes later Roberts netted from close range.

Millwall had lost to an injury-time goal the week before against Oldham, but this time Henry was on hand to fire in from close range and give The Lions their third straight away win.

Oldham Athletic 0 Colchester United 1

Oldham's inconsistent home form continued as an early Clive Platt goal gave Colchester the points at Boundary Park.

Platt struck after a just a minute from the edge of the area to stun the home side.

Oldham struggled to get going throughout the game, and Colchester could have added to their lead on several occasions.

The defeat meant The Latics slipped to fifth, while Colchester climbed to tenth and stretched their unbeaten run to four games.

Scunthorpe United 2 Stockport County 1

Gary Hooper scored his 20th of the season as Scunthorpe moved back into the play-off places.

Scunthorpe struck twice in the first 15 minutes, with Kevan Hurst grabbing the opener from close range following good work from Henri Lansbury.

Prolific striker Gary Hooper doubled United's advantage with a clinical finish, but Michael Raynes hauled Stockport back into the game on 20 minutes, heading in Michael Rose's free-kick.

Scunthorpe had chances to make the game safe, but will be delighted with a win that lifts them back above Leeds.

Bristol Rovers 2 Leeds United 2

Jo Kuffour's last-minute goal ensured Leeds' barren run on the road continued.

Leeds were without an away win in two months and fell behind early on when David Pipe set up Jeff Hughes to fire past Casper Ankergren.

But The Whites battled back and levelled on 26 minutes when Luciano Becchio, who grabbed the equaliser at Oldham on Monday, headed in from close range.

Robert Snodgrass curled a superb free-kick into the top corner to give Leeds the lead on 59 minutes, before Kuffour raced on to Rickie Lambert's ball and finished emphatically.

Northampton Town 1 Tranmere Rovers 1

Play-off chasing Tranmere missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders as they were held to a draw by Northampton.

Bas Savage gave Tranmere the lead on 31 minutes, heading home Danny Mayor's cross.

Northampton were missing top scorer Adebayo Akinfenwa through suspension, and rarely threatened until Andrew Holt levelled in the 52nd minute.

Holt fired in from 18 yards, and The Cobblers withstood long periods of Tranmere domination to hold on for a point.

Southend United 2 Walsall 0

Second-half goals from Kevin Betsy and Theo Robinson gave Southend the points against ten-man Walsall.

Walsall were dealt an early blow when former England striker Michael Ricketts received his marching orders for violent conduct after just 15 minutes.

Southend made the most of their numerical advantage after the break as Betsy fired a low shot into the corner of the net on 49 minutes.

The points were made safe when Robinson scored after good work from Dorian Dervitte on 71 minutes.

Yeovil Town 1 Carlisle United 1

Carlisle substitute Michael Bridges hit a last-gasp leveller to deny new Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton a first win.

Skiverton, who replaced Russell Slade last month, looked set to break his duck thanks to Gary Roberts first-half strike but Bridges beat Josh Wagenaar at his near post from 25-yards to steal a point.

The Glovers hit the front on the half hour when Roberts blasted past Ben Williams from the edge of the box for his second goal of the season.

Carlisle substitute Scott Dobie blew a golden chance with his first touch in the 65th minute as Yeovil lived dangerously at the back and they were made to pay when Bridges struck at the death.

Crewe Alexandra 2 Hereford United 1

Billy Jones hit a double as Crewe secured a vital three points against fellow strugglers Hereford.

After a goalless first half, the game burst into life when Sam Hewson was sent off for handling Julien Baudet's shot in the area.

Jones scored from the resultant penalty, but with 11 minutes left Hereford were back on level terms as Toumani Diagouraga fired into the roof of the net.

But two minutes later Crewe were back in front thanks to a long-range strike from Jones, and the home side held on for their fifth win in six games.

Leyton Orient 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 1

Sean Thornton scored a late winner as Leyton Orient came from behind to beat Brighton at Brisbane Road.

Both sides started the day in the relegation zone, and it was The Seagulls who drew first blood, Matt Heath slotting home after Jamie Jones had kept out Andrew Whing's initial effort.

Scott McGleish brought the home side level from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time after Matt Heath fouled Simon Church in the area.

With just over two minutes remaining Thornton lashed into the bottom corner to lift Orient out of the drop zone.
