Southend United 0 Leicester City 2

Leicester City were crowned League One champions as a Matty Fryatt double ensured a return to the Championship at the first attempt.

After a nervous first half, Fryatt put The Foxes in front from the penalty spot on 58 minutes after Simon Francis handled in the area.

Southend continued to push forward as they tried to keep their faint hopes of a play-off place alive, but in the 70th minute Leicester grabbed their second from a rapid counter-attack.

Lloyd Dyer crossed for Fryatt to head past Steve Mildenhall and spark wild celebrations among the Leicester players and fans.

Peterborough United 1 Stockport County 0

Craig Mackail-Smith's 25th goal of the season gave Peterborough a crucial win in their hunt for the second automatic promotion place.

Peterborough took the lead in the 25th minute when Aaron McLean played in Mackail-Smith who delicately chipped keeper Conrad Logan.

The home side pushed forward in search of a second but were denied time and time again by an inspired Logan.

Stockport rarely threatened, and Peterborough clinched three points which keeps them second with two games to go.

Scunthorpe United 0 Milton Keynes Dons 1

Luke Chadwick's first-half goal gave MK Dons a priceless three points and put a huge dent in Scunthorpe's hopes of making the play-offs.

The former Manchester United winger broke the deadlock on 34 minutes when he raced on to Jason Puncheon's pass and slid past the onrushing Joe Murphy.

Scunthorpe dominated possession but struggled to create clear cut chances, with leading scorer Gary Hooper well marshalled by the Dons defence.

The win leaves MK Dons four points behind second-placed Peterborough, who have played a game more.

Bristol Rovers 4 Millwall 2

Rickie Lambert ended his mini goal drought with a double as Bristol Rovers virtually ended Millwall's hopes of an automatic promotion place.

Rovers went in front on 12 minutes when Stuart Campbell's corner found Craig Disley completely unmarked on the near post, and he slotted home.

Nadjim Abdou equalised for Millwall in the 29th minute with a fantastic header, but the Lions were not on level terms for long as Lambert headed home another Campbell corner, his first goal for five games.

Jo Kuffour put Rovers further in front in the 37th minute, and it got worse for Millwall just before half-time when Gary Alexander was sent off for deliberate handball in the box, and Lambert calmly beat David Forde from the spot.

Steve Elliott was sent off for a second booking on 63 minutes for Rovers, before Abdou pulled one back for Millwall.

Leeds United 3 Tranmere Rovers 1

Jermaine Beckford scored his 32nd of the season as Leeds won their tenth straight home game to all but clinch a place in the play-offs.

Leeds fired out an early warning when Jonny Howson's long-range shot hit the post, but on 15 minutes Beckford put Leeds in front from inside the six-yard box.

In the 26th minute Neil Kilkenny doubled the home side's advantage, but just a minute later Bas Savage broke the Leeds offside trap and his pass was turned into his own net by Sam Sodje.

Luciano Becchio made the points safe for Leeds on 56 minutes when he diverted a Robert Snodgrass free-kick past Danny Coyne.

Walsall 2 Huddersfield Town 3

Veteran striker Andy Booth scored twice as Huddersfield came from two goals down to beat Walsall at The Bescot Stadium.

Jabo Ibehre gave Walsall the lead on 13 minutes from Troy Deeney's pass, and Deeney was the provider again when Ibehre fired the Saddlers further ahead in the 27th minute.

But Huddersfield hit back just before the break with two goals in quick succession. Booth slotted in the first from close in on 42 minutes, and a couple of minutes later he headed in Jim Goodwin's corner.

The decisive goal came in the 62nd minute when Martin Kelly's long range effort beat Walsall keeper Rene Gilmartin.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3 Oldham Athletic 1

Brighton kept their survival hopes alive as a Lloyd Owusu double helped them to a win over Oldham at The Withdean Stadium.

In the 26th minute Dean Cox headed in Owusu's cross to put the Seagulls in front and ten minutes later Owusu got himself on the scoresheet with another header, this time Joe Hart providing the cross.

Lewis Alessandra gave Oldham hope on 61 minutes, but two minutes later Owusu scored with a low drive from the edge of the area to restore Brighton's two-goal lead.

Andrew Whing was sent off for a second booking late on, but Brighton held on for a crucial three points.

Leyton Orient 1 Northampton Town 3

Northampton scored three times in the last 20 minutes to secure a vital three points at Leyton Orient.

Leyton Orient were in front midway through the first half when Jason Crowe put Sean Thornton's free-kick past his own keeper.

The game turned on its head in three second half minutes. First Adebayo Akinfenwa levelled when he headed home Crowe's free-kick on 71 minutes, and moments later Prijovic fired The Cobblers in front from Ikechi Anya's pass.

Anya scored in injury time to make the points safe, and leave Northampton just one point adrift of safety.

Yeovil Town 2 Hartlepool United 3

Hartlepool took a giant step towards safety thanks to Daniel Nardiello's 71st minute winner in an exciting game at Huish Park.

Gavin Tomlin gave the hosts an early lead with a low shot, but the lead did not last long as Joel Porter scored from the penalty spot after Lee Peltier fouled Nardiello.

On the stroke of half-time Andy Monkhouse crossed for Porter to head home his second and put Hartlepool ahead.

Andros Townsend equalised for Yeovil on 57 minutes, before Nardiello headed in another Monkhouse cross to give Hartlepool the points.

Carlisle United 1 Swindon Town 1

Owain Tudor-Jones scored an injury-time equaliser as Swindon snatched a point from their trip to fellow strugglers Carlisle.

Michael Bridges settled Carlisle's nerves early on when he fired in a low shot from the edge of the area.

It looked like it would be enough for the Cumbrians, but in the second minute of added time Tudor-Jones fired in an unstoppable free-kick, his first goal of the season.

The result leaves Carlisle just one point ahead of the relegation zone, and Northampton have two games in hand.

Crewe Alexandra 1 Cheltenham Town 2

Paul Connor's winner six minutes from time meant Cheltenham staved off relegation to League Two for another week.

It looked bleak for Cheltenham when Crewe took the lead inside two minutes when Gylfi Sigurdsson set Clayton Donaldson free down the left flank, and he crossed for the Icelandic midfielder to find the net from close range.

The Robins equalised on 58 minutes when John Finnigan drove home a penalty after Marlon Broomes fouled David Hutton in the box.

Just as Cheltenham's League One status looked to be slipping away, Connor headed in Leon Constantine's cross to give The Robins a glimmer of hope.

Hereford United 0 Colchester United 2

Hereford's relegation to League Two was confirmed after a dismal defeat to Colchester at Edgar Street.

Mark Yeates put the U's in front on 35 minutes with superb free-kick into the top corner.

And six minutes later, Dean Beckwith put through his own net from a Yeates cross to doubled Colchester's lead.

The visitors did all the pressing in the second half as Hereford's short stay in League One ended with a whimper.
