Peterborough United 2 Scunthorpe United 1

Craig Mackail-Smith struck an 86th minute winner as Peterborough came from behind to cement their place in the top two.

Posh trailed at the break when on-loan Arsenal youngster Henri Lansbury got on the end of Gary Hooper's cross to power a shot past Joe Lewis.

But Darren Ferguson's half-time rocket did the trick with the hosts pulling level on 63 when Tom Williams' cross was converted by Chris Whelpdale.

Posh piled forward from that moment and got the goal their pressure deserved when Mackail-Smith slammed in another Williams cross.

MK Dons 1 Huddersfield Town 1

Huddersfield defender Andy Butler put a huge dent in MK Dons' automatic promotion hopes with a 78th winner equaliser at stadium:MK.

Town keeper Alex Smithies was in fine form before the break with smart saves from Luke Chadwick and Jason Puncheon.

But The Dons finally went in front in the 59th minute when Sam Baldock slid in Chadwick's cross from close range.

The goal finally brought Huddersfield to life and they were level 12 minutes from time when Butler headed in Anthony Pilkington's cross.

Millwall 1 Northampton Town 0

Gary Alexander's first-half goal boosted Millwall's promotion hopes as they comfortably saw off woeful Northampton.

The former Leyton Orient striker struck the only goal in the 35th minute when James Henry danced past Danny Jackman and crossed for Alexander to fire in his ninth of the season.

Henry then nearly added the goal his performance deserved on the hour, somehow heading David Martin's perfect cross inches wide when it was easier to score.

The Lions were comfortable after the break but were almost caught by a sucker punch when Leon Constantine headed wide.

Leeds United 4 Yeovil Town 0

Jermaine Beckford's third hat-trick of the season took his tally for the campaign to 28 and continued Terry Skiverton's miserable start to life as Yeovil boss.

The Glovers, who have not won since sacking Russell Slade last month, went behind in the 25th minute when prolific striker Beckford drove a shot beyond Josh Wagenaar.

Leeds had a second two minutes before the break when Wagenaar failed to keep out Neil Kilkenny's 25-yard piledriver.

Beckford completed his haul 12 minutes after the break with another classy finish and Leeds could even afford to miss a penalty when Luciano Becchio fired wide on 72.

Stockport County 2 Hartlepool United 1

Leon McSweeney and James Vincent struck second-half goals to earn Stockport their first win in five matches.

After a goalless first-half the hosts hit the front in the 55th minute when Michael Rose's cross caused havoc and McSweeney nipped into score.

Ten minutes later County doubled their advantage when Vincent drove home sweetly from the edge of the box.

Pools introduced Michael Mackay from the bench and he set-up a nervy final six minutes when he got a goal back but the damage had already been done.

Colchester United 3 Swindon Town 2

Colchester striker Clive Platt returned to haunt former boss Danny Wilson with two goals that helped down Swindon.

Platt, who worked with Wilson at MK Dons, gave the Farmers a dream start when he nodded in Simon Hackney's cross.

Simon Cox levelled from the spot on 35 but Platt had a second header before the break from Kem Izzet's cross.

Hal Robson-Kanu again levelled on 64 but back came Colchester and they took all of the points when Dave Perkins hammered home from close range in the 70th minute.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1 Southend United 3

Two goals from Lee Barnard, the second an absolute stunner, fired Southend to their seventh win in nine and ruined Russell Slade's first match at The Withdean Stadium.

Hereford United 0 Bristol Rovers 3

Leading scorer Richie Lambert helped himself to a hat-trick as Bristol Rovers swept aside struggling Hereford.

The former Stockport frontman broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when he curled a free-kick beyond the reach of Peter Gulacsi from 20-yards.

Lambert doubled his tally seven minutes later with another crisp finish from the edge of the box.

Lambert completed his hat-trick and the scoring in the 57th minute when he slammed home a penalty following Karl Broadhurst's clumsy challenge on former Hereford full-back Ryan Green.

Walsall 1 Crewe Alexandra 1

Substitute Steven Schumacher headed a 92nd minute equaliser to continue Crewe's upturn in form.

The former Everton youngster, who replaced Chris McCready in the 26th minute, forced Clayton Ince into a fine save before the break.

But The Saddlers went in front in the 57th minute when Troy Deeney headed in Alex Nicholls cross.

However, Schumacher had the final say when he headed in Clayton Donaldson's cross.

Carlisle United 1 Leyton Orient 3

Leyton Orient boosted their survival hopes with a comfortable win at Brunton Park.

Charlie Daniels began the rout when he fired home from close range in the 29th minute after good work from Scott McGleish.

Veteran striker McGleish gave the O's a cushion eight minutes later when he converted Jimmy Smith's cross from close range.

And the points were in the bag as early as the 49th minute when on-loan Reading striker Simon Church latched onto Sean Thornton's through ball and fired past Ben Williams.

Carlisle sub Scott Dobie got one back on 77 after good work from Danny Graham but it was too little too late.
