Bailey & Harry score again, MacDonald grabs a brace for Bees, Scully set for showdown with Stimmo!

Last updated : 07 February 2010 By westfield shrimper

Gills chairman Paul Scully has demanded talks with manager Mark Stimson after their 4-0 hammering at the hands of Brentford, and Stimmo is not confident about the outcome.

Stimpson said after the game: "I don't think it was a 4-0 defeat and I think that at 3-0 if we had taken our chances then it could have been a different game. The players have let themselves down, the club down and me down. Will the chairman stand by me? Who knows?"

Shy and retiring Stimmo answered fans at the game who shouted at him to quit.

He told www.kentnews.co.uk: "No chance. I was brought up in the East End. You don't walk for anyone, you face it eye-to-eye and you get on with it. It's not something you want to hear as a manager but it happens. I'm probably not the only manager [on Saturday] to have that thrown at him around the country and that's part of the job. I've always said I'll do my best until the chairman tells me any different. He's the one who will make that decision. It's not happened to me yet but every manager is hired to be fired."

Back in the league, Nicky Bailey grabbed yet another goal for the Addicks, this one three minutes into stoppage time at the County Ground to rescue a vital point against the in-form Robins.

Goal machine Matty Harrold got his his second goal in a week, a powerful close range header by all accounts, but sadly for him, along with Alex Revell and Kevin Betsy, Yeovil scored four in reply.

However, it was Charlie MacDonald and the Bees of Brentford who take the honours with their four goal thrashing of the Kent club where Mac grabbed a brace of penalties along with another two from Mark Weston, and who knows, by tomorrow evening tehy could have also added the scalp of the Gillingham boss!

Meanwhile, the Shrimpers face Monday's tough Essex derby with Colchester in the knowledge that defeat will leave them only two points away from Brighton and the bottom four. The Seagulls playing that match 24 hours later at home to Huddersfield. Come on Clarkey, you owe us a favour!
