Moose Watch I

"Ha, I've got rid of Macca and Bailey. I'm in for the season."

After having Moose in my team since Macca's injury I unceremoniously dumped him when we signed Grant. I bottled it to be honest, worried that the reported attacking strength of Posh would leave us exposed if we played with two widemen. Luckily, Tilly takes absolutely no notice of my previews, I'd even dropped Walker at one stage, and kept the Moose in the side and pretty well he played too. 7 out of 10 seemed to be going rate.

Like many I felt he was a touch cautious at the start but had a far better second half. Did enough to start again with Bailey, however the way things are going he could become a regular fixture for the season!

Speaking to Blues World he said: "For a long time I've been a fringe player but now is the time for me to start producing and perhaps go a step further by having a real impact. Last season I didn't always play in my favoured position but that is because this squad is so good. There are a lot of options available to the manager in my position but that is because this squad is so good. "

He felt he did OK on Saturday. "Playing in the centre of midfield I had to stay strong alongside Nicky Bailey. The manager said I did allright and now I just want to use that to push on and get better in each game. Not being the biggest I have taken set-peices for a few years now as there isn't much point in having me in the box. I am comfatable delivering the ball into dangerous areas and if the manager wants me to continue to take them I am happy with that."

Moose - 7; Looked good - hardly gave ball away, this is his season to show us what he can do. (TB)

Right result yesterday, with Franck Moussa at the heart of it. A quietly assured performance from our number 14 like Kevin Maher without the aggression. Franck produced one or two inspired attacking passes, and positioned himself well to make the odd tackle too. It (the midfield) might not be Gower, Maher, McCormack, Campbell-Ryce, but there are promising signs...

I was interested to read a lengthy article from Ron Martin last week's Echo. One of the things he talked about was bringing through young players more quickly. He cited Franck as an example of someone who they'd held back, perhaps unnecessarily.

If Bailey does go, the first choice centre midfield partnership today would be Macca and Moussa. I think they'd complement each other well. Only problem is Alan is out until late September at best.

Still, three points in the bag, and Franck looking like a permanent first team fixture, for now at least...(John)

I couldn't agree more about Franck - a very fine stylish performance - my only frustration was that I had him at 10-1 to score any time - and I kept looking for that shot....!

Felt he didn't take any chances and I suppose that was good but just wanted him to be more adventurous (Fitz)

Moose - 7 - Promising youngster imo. Rarely gives the ball away but is sometimes a bit too cautious (Barrettisalegend)

Thought mooooooooooooooooos had a good game today (leeblue)

Moussa - 7 Good on ball, but too many sideways balls - still not proven at this level (Magnum PI)

7
- Moussa - Didn't do anything special, but didn't look out of place at this level. With a bit of improvement, confidence and experience he could become a good centre mid for us. (fredheim_holm)

Moose - 7 - Looks composed on the ball. Reminded me a bit of Maher. (bertiebigbanana)

But there has to be one.....

For me Musssa wasn't and still isn't up to the standard, I just dont see what
he is gonna give us this season I really don't, totally outclassed and muscled (cockles is back)

The odds are he will play Tuesday and thru September so this will be a regular feature into the Autumn at least.
