Happy Christmas from the Railways for Milton Keynes: Get the Bus!

Yes, they do exist

The nearest station is actually Bletchley for the new stadium, which is around about two miles away from the stadium and a 20-25minute walk to the ground, but forget it! Buses both ways, over two hours from London Euston, and anyway £4.40 more than to get to Milton Keynes Central, so go there!

Two ways to get the main train station but all on offer at www.londonmidland.com.

London Midland are offering the cheaper day returns at £14.50 and the 10.00 'coach' will get you there at 12.21, or the 11.00 at 13.21. (I usually find these services get in earlier especially on a Sunday due to lack of traffic getting out of London ect.)

Getting back there is an 18.05 which, they say, is a direct train service back to London, the only one for after the match before the buses kick in again! I have checked with customer services and they have confirmed this direct train will be running, if you want to trust them book ahead!

The only reason I would say book in adavance is when the £14.50's run out, which they may do as we get nearer the date, the next return fare jumps to £20.00. The game is a long way away, you decide.

For a quicker journey up but having to make a change there's the 10.36 First Capital Connect service from London St. Pancras then a 11.30 bus service from Luton, qrriving at Milton Keynes around 12.15. This trip is repeated at 11.36, in at 13.15. It costs a bit more at £17.00 and you may not be allowed on the 18.05, though I doubt it, and have to do the return journey on the 18.20 in at 19.59.

Let the train take the strain but maybe not over Christmas

It's a mess of course on what should a simple journey but that's the railways for you. I'm sure you can leave this to much closer however with these guys you can never be sure.

Then you've got to get to, wait for it, Stadium MK. From Franchise Central, which is around four miles away, there is a taxi rank outside the station, or there is a bus station located just across the plaza out front. There are a number of services, 7, 7E, 32, that pass near to the stadium taking 20-25 minutes, however there will be a reduced service on a Sunday, looking into that as well! The train company will also be running a bus service to Bletchley Station, where it's walkable from there or there's a taxi service.

With all this aggro might be best to take the car for this one or get one of the coaches on offer. Good Luck!
