Macca scores again but reserves lose in Norwich friendly

Depending on Dougie's fitness it will probably be same again on Saturday so Macca will have to warm the bench, but he's getting closer to that first team start with every kick.

A strong Norwich lined up against Blues Twos with axed winger Wes Hoolahan along with strikers, ex-Farmer Jamie Cureton, and Arturo Lupoli

Hoolahan was left out of the 16 for Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Derby, while Lupoli made a brief appearance as substitute.

A triallist, Gambian international and former Preston defender Seyfo Soley, was also included in the Canaries' 16.

On-loan defender Troy Archibald-Henville played, while Robert Eagle and Simon Lappin are the other players with first-team experience.

The bad news was Laurent's collision with Norwich substitute keeper Jed Street that led to him being stretched off eight minutes from the final whistle, hope he's OK?

There were 1,592 supporters at the game, hardy lot in East Anglia, which saw Blues fall behind to a 30 minute penalty, Cureton being fouled in the box by a combination of Jonny Herd and Peggy Lokando, back from his loan period with Daggers obviously.

Then Luke Daley made it 2-0 for the Canaries four minutes later.

A 30-yard free-kick from Macca on 64 minutes gave the experienced Blues Twos a lift, even time for Anthony Grant to hit the bar near the end, but it was not to be.

Paul Furlong lasted an hour though.

Southend Reserves: Joyce, Grant, Sankofa, Lokando, Herd, Scannell, Moussa, McCormack, Walker, Furlong (O'Keefe 58), Laurent (Ademeno 82).

Subs not used: McDonald, Forshaw, Jones.
