Harrison; present boss has given the OK for him to look for a new club
Striker Byron Harrison had scored 53 goals for Middlesex based Ryman Premier team Ashford Town in two years, 19 this season alone.
Having signed from Harrow Borough in January 2008 Byron has also turned out for Havant & Waterlooville and Worthing.
Ashford boss Jamie Lawrence has accepted that his top scorer may well leave the club to get a chance in the Football League.
Lawrence told www.stainesnews.co.uk at the turn of the year: "I have spoken to him and said I would never stand in a player's way as you have to try and better yourself. He is the best striker in this league and I would love him to stay, but opportunities to play at a higher level do not come along all the time."
Well, Swindon are having a fine time with Poole striker Charlie Austin and it was not that long ago that former Grays man Freddie Eastwood was knocking them in for the Blues.
In our financial position this is really one of the few ways we can go to get decent bargins who will do a job for the club.
It will also be interesting if reserve team manager Ricky Duncan has the services of centre half Jean-Yves M'Voto, who was obviously short of match fitness in his 45 minutes against Swindon last weekend.
Then again, as the Frenchman has to turn out in the main event when the Essex rivals first teams take the stage next Monday it's doubtful he'll be risked. Possibly striker Matt Paterson, but expect a few kids as usual.
