Gilbert: Back in action
Peter Gilbert; back from injury to turn out for the Blues Two's against Boro

Southend United reserves will face Stevenage at Roots Hall Tuesday afternoon in their final Totesport Football Combination East Division fixture of the 2010/11 season with the kick-off moved forward an hour to 13.00 from the usual time of 14.00, admission remains free.

The Shrimper seconds player/coach Graham Coughlan will be able to turn out a strong side which could see the last appearance of Johnny Herd, probably on the left side of midfield from where he scored his goal against Watford reserves last week, in a Southend shirt.

In fact, we should know soon enough just how many of the side stepping out tomorrow has been told their future lies away from south-east Essex.

However, full-back Peter Gilbert has recovered from a hernia operation to take to the field, the first time he has been seen for United since limping off in the first half of the 2-1 defeat at Lincoln City on March 12th.

He may actually start in the centre of defence with Teddy Nesbitt starting in the left-back position.

Blimey, a couple of weeks ago we had none, now with a few days left to go of the season we seem to have a swarm of left footed defenders!

Southend United: Evans, Comminges, Furlonge, Gilbert, Nesbitt, Woodyard, Bouzid, Herd, Soares, Smith, Asante.
