Referee: Scott Mathieson (South Cheshire) 8 out of 10 - at long last a referee whom we had no problem with! Mathieson let the game flow and we barely noticed him - which shows us a sign of a decent official.

Leon Constantine scored in each game the last time Blues won successive away matches
AND ANOTHER THING…

**This was Southend’s first win at Meadow Lane since 1965 – a run of some thirteen matches in all

**Notts County have still not won at the ground this season, with two draws and three defeats at their home, although they did score their first goal in 6 hours and 23 minutes when Glyn Hurst grabbed an 86th-minute consolation

**The world’s oldest football club have fallen to the foot of the Football League – 92nd of 92 clubs – for the first time in their 142-year history

**Coupled with the 4-1 win at Rushden & Diamonds, this was the first time in 2004 that Blues have won consecutive away matches; the last time this occurred was on 13th and 26th December when the Seasiders triumphed 3-2 over Swansea City at the Vetch Field and then a fortnight later beat Cambridge United 1-0 at the Abbey Stadium on Boxing Day

**After making his 150th League appearance for Southend United last weekend against Wycombe Wanderers, this constituted Darryl Flahavan’s 150th League start for the Shrimpers – the only substitute appearance being that replacement of Bart Griemink at Rushden & Diamonds

**Adam Barrett started the season with ten career goals and has now increased that by 50% after heading home his fifth of the current campaign in the 55th minute in his seventh appearance of the year. Fourteen of the fifteen have come in Football League encounters, seven of which have involved Southend!
