AND ANOTHER THING…
**Southend United crashed to their first Coca-Cola League defeat in exactly one month, since the 3-2 loss to another promotion candidate, Scunthorpe United, at Glanford Park. Since then there has been a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town (away), and home wins over Northampton Town and Oxford United.
**Blues keep up their record of having never defeated the Glovers in a Football League encounter – after 4-0 (away) and 2-0 (home) reverses last season, Adam Barrett’s goal was in fact the Seasiders’ first against Town.
**In netting that goal, Barrett joined Freddy Eastwood at the top of the Shrimpers goalscoring charts with seven; Wayne Gray is next back with five.
**Adam Barrett and Mark Bentley both collected their first cautions of the season (Bentley was sent off against Colchester United). Kevin Maher, meanwhile, added his first dismissal of 2004/5 to seven previous bookings. It was the first time since Duncan Jupp was booked at Shrewsbury that any Southend player had been noted by the referee.
