Laurent & Christophe ask the Blue Voice to take an extra flag to Stamford Bridge

As reported last week both Blues Frenchman should be at Roots Hall into the next decade.

The former SV Mainz's forward Laurent has been rewarded for some exciting displays with an extended deal until June 2011, the original having been set to run out at the end of the season.

Francis has scored four goals in nine appearances as well as possessing a style of play that can leave defenders looking quite foolish at times.

Certainly Blues boss Steve Tilson, speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk, is pleased his gamble paid off: "Francis has done really well for us and he deserves his new deal. At the time I said it was a bit of a punt but it has come off and hopefully he can now go from strength to strength."

Joining his fellow Frenchman should be midfielder Jean-Francois Christophe. While negotiations continue with his present club Portsmouth the Blues are confident he will be signed up by the end of the week and ready to be selected for the cup tie against Chelsea.
