Yeovil were comprehensive winners of last season’s Nationwide Conference, but this year it has been play-off winners Doncaster Rovers who have run away with the Third Division promotion accolades as opposed to last year’s champions. In truth, Glovers supporters will probably not be too disconcerted with their inaugural Football League campaign, with its many highs and lows along the way.

Finally, the weekend after the Shrimpers clash, Yeovil picked up their first League draw, in their nineteenth match, and by Christmas they were unbeaten in five and lying third again, just three points off of Oxford United’s top spot. However, one win from seven left Town’s automatic promotion hopes in tatters, and clinging onto a play-off place by the tightest of margins.
A win over Oxford was another bog scalp, and helped the Glovers to consolidate their position in the top seven, but despite massive wins over Cambridge United (4-1) and local rivals Bristol Rovers (4-0, to complete the ‘double’), three draws and five losses from the next ten meant that the six points gleaned against mid-table Bury and relegation fodder York in the last two matches have put them back in contention – but only just.
Cup form has been decent enough, with a fantastic F.A. Cup win over Wrexham and a large triumph against Barnet. The Glovers bowed out to
