Timlin: Southend loan move

Timlin: 'It’s a tricky one for me because Swindon pay my wages'

Shrimpers loanee midfielder Michael Timlin be watching Tuesday evening's JPT southern semi-final tie with parent club Swindon Town from the stands.

And that's going to be tough for both player and the home side, who will miss his influential probings form the middle of the park.

Timlin told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I would obviously love to be playing in the game but I’ll definitely be there. It’s a tricky one for me because Swindon pay my wages but I’m with Southend right now and want them to do well so hopefully the lads can keep the good run we’re on going.”

Timlin was also absent in Southend’s last defeat, 2-0 at the County Ground on September 10th, as plenty of those connected with the Wiltshire club are lining up to remind us!

However, the Peckam born boy knows we have we travelling light that day, and as both teams have had a heavy schedule, there can be no excuses this time around, though the loss of Timmo and centre-back Mark Phillips will stretch the relatively small Southend squad, relative to the Robins that is.

He explained: “When we played Swindon before we were without Liam Dickinson and Neil Harris who are big players for us. We have them available this time and we’re all feeling confident.”

Timmo has turned out 17 times for the Shrimpers since rejoining  us for a second spell which comes to an end in January, both Swindon manager and player have made their thoughts clear on that already, Michael signed a new two-year contract with the Wiltshire club at the start of the season.

Blues boss Paul Sturrock said that talks were planned about the player a while back but for now Swindon’s interim chairman Jeremy Wray will have a chance to chat to our CEO Tara Brady over a cupper tonight.

As Town wouldn't have allowed Timlin to play anyway the fact he picked up his fifth yellow in the cup draw with Oldham is entirely a conincidence, as is Phillips: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
