Timlin: 'I would say I was more disappointed than angry by how things ended'
Shrimpers midfielder Michael Timlin would have like events to have gone differently at the County Ground, he signed a new two-year contract only in August, but after a successful second loan spell with the Essex boys, he finally put pen to paper as Southend agreed to cough up the rest of his wages and around 50k for his services.
Timlin told www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk: “It’s all water under the bridge now and I don’t hold any grudges towards anyone at Swindon. I would say I was more disappointed than angry by how things ended there because at the start I was one of only a few players who 100 per cent committed to Di Canio and his ways. I would like to think I’ve gone on to show I’m a good player and what happened at Swindon wasn’t to do with football. But I enjoyed my time there, even though I don’t think I played as well I could’ve done, and would really love Southend to win the league this season with Swindon also getting promotion.”
Timmo was not allowed to take part in the previous meetings with the Wiltshire Robins and in such an important fixture is hoping it's third time lucky for his new club.
Timlin said: “Both teams need a result as they’re going for promotion and it’s a massive match so hopefully we can come out on top. It was frustrating not being able to play in the other two matches against Swindon and the team didn’t really show what we could do in those games either. Hopefully this time it will be different.”
Hopefully indeed!
