Michael Timlin: Set to sign a new contract with the Robins

Midfielder Michael Timlin is likely to remain a Swindon Town player for the upcoming season, after verbally agreeing a new two year contact which he should be putting pen to paper Wednesday afternoon.

The ex-Fulham player had a spell on loan at Roots Hall during the first half of last season while Shrimpers skipper Craig Easton was injured, turning out eight times for the club while scoring a cracker at Hereford, but returned to Wiltshire to become a regular in the starting line-up under Danny Wilson and then Paul Hart, but not being able to stop Swindon from relegation back into the bottom tier.

Speculation had the manager who first took him to the County Ground, our very own Paul Sturrock, negotiating to take him back to south-east Essex on a more permanent basis but recent comments by Robins chairman Jeremy Wray, and the Shrimpers own pursuit of Crystal Palace midfielder Alassane N'Diaye, has made the deal increasingly unlikely.

For the record we can say hi to young Timms on Saturday, September 10th (away) and Saturday, January 28th (home).
