Tilson: 'There is no way the first goal should have been allowed'

Blues boss Steve Tilson couldn't hide his frustration with the match officials after another defeat on the road leaves the Shrimpers sinking fast towards a struggle at the wrong end of the table.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "There is no way the first goal should have been allowed. Things are hard enough for us at the moment, without the officials making decisions like that. To start off with, there was a blatant foul on Simon Francis out wide and the lad who scored was offside. It was obvious to see and to go 1-0 down was a massive body blow for us."

With Francis Laurent out with a hamstring injury, Osei Sankofa off ill at half-time, and now Macca picking up his 10th yellow card meaning he misses the next two tough fixtures against Swindon and Colchester, the Shrimpers manager is aware his small squad will be stretched to the limit.

Tilly continued: "Unforunately, things just don't seem to be going our way right now. I couldn't fault the lad's efforts and commitment, but the bottom line is, we have a lot of boys out there trying to do a man's job."
