Tilson: 'I can't fault the players for efforts and desire'

Blues boss Steve Tilson updated his comments after the Shrimpers continued their poor run that has seen seven defeats in the last ten matches.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "The first goal was offside which was really disappointing and the second was due to us giving the ball away. We didn't have many chances but I can't fault the players for effort and desire. The players gave everything, we just have to keep working hard and the tide will turn."

Jackett: 'Game wasn't as free flowing as I would have liked'

Meanwhile, Lions boss Kenny Jackett was obviously the happier of the two mangers and believed his team fully deserved the three points.

Jackett told www.millwallfc.co.uk: "We created enough chances to win the match and I'm pleased we put two away. The pitch had an effect that the game that wasn't as free flowing as I would have liked, but it was like that for both teams."

He futher commented on the increase of competition in the squad his loan signings have made, especially 6ft 4in giant Shaun Batt, who scored in his first match for the South London club after signing from Peterborough.

Jackett explained: "Shaun took his goal very well, he showed a lot of desire and hit the ground running scoring on his debut."

At the moment the Southend faithful can only look on in envy.
