Tilson: 'We are certainly still looking for another centre back'

Blues boss Steve Tilson is expected to give Scott Spencer a start against Wycombe Wanderers but wants to reduce expectation that he's found the next Lee Barnard, however he does want his team to create more chances to hurt the opposition.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "I thought we were the better side at Huddersfield last week, but we were punished for conceding two soft goals. It's all about putting the ball in the net and we have to keep getting into positions to score. My worry would be if we weren't getting in the box and missing, but that's not the case and we need to keep encouraging the players to get in the box and hope the goals go in."

He confirmed that Sunderland loanee Jean-Yves M'Voto would not play but he the club were still looking at bringing in another centre half which S24 believes is Lincoln's János Kovács.

Tilly explained: "Jean played 45 minutes for the reserves, but he is probably not ready to play yet. Every other club has three or four centre backs and we are just have one, so we are certainly still looking for another one."

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock

Waddock: 'It will be a difficult game'

Chairboys boss Gary Waddock accepts his teams form on the road has not been great but has seen encouraging signs in recent fixtures.

Waddock told www.buckinghamshireadvertiser.co.uk: "If we continue in the same way as we have done in recent weeks then I would like to feel that results will come. We have to make sure we maintain our focus and continue with what we have been doing and keep believing in ourselves. There are enough points up for grabs and we will continue to fight up until the last minute of the season starting with Saturday."

As for the match Saturday in Southend the former Aldershot manager knows that even without top scorer Lee Barnard in the Shrimpers side levels of concentration will have to remain high.

Waddock continued: "It will be a difficult game. I'm sure Steve Tilson would like them to be more consistent but they are a very good side on their day. The danger is that we lose focus on the players in their team who can be a threat. They have got some good players so it is case of all of us being on our toes throughout."
