Sturrock: Praises team

Sturrock: 'There was a wee spell when a fan with a drum went over to the far side of the ground and that really made a difference'

Blues boss is urging the Shrimpers faithful to play their part in the promotion six-pointer with Swindon Town at roots Hall Tuesday evening; kick-off 19.45.

Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: “I think we have a quiet fan base at home and it would be brilliant if that could change this evening for the Swindon game. There was a wee spell when a fan with a drum went over to the far side of the ground and that really made a difference. But it’s been quiet for a while again now which we would like to change because it really does make a difference when they generate some good noise. I’m not being at all critical of the fans but it would be great to have them right behind us against Swindon and then any frustrations they have can be aired at the final whistle.”

No arguments there Luggs, so let's hope, even on the coldest night of the year, a large crowd tuns up to enjoy a competitive match with the vast majotity going home happy having seen the Shrimpers beat Di Canio's Robins at the third time of asking.

Sturrock concluded: “We need the team to stand up and be counted. There will be an edge to the game and it will be very difficult as well.”

It will indeed; COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!

Due to the S24 editorial team returning late from the game it will be close to midnight before the first reports and post-match quotes hit the screen, apologies, but the official site will give a fair impression of the match as usual.
