Mohsni: Future unclear

Bilel Mohsni reminds us he did indeed score a brace

For over an hour you a neutral might have wondered who was second from top and who was second from bottom, and then Bilel, to create one of the craziest last ten minutes I've ever known at a Southend away game, brilliant!

Blues boss Paul Sturrock must have wondered what to make of it all.

Sturrock said:'We showed great character to win and I don't think you could ask for a more entertaining 2nd half than that. We shot ourselves in the foot with some zany goals. And almost again when it 2-2.'

Poor under seige Cobblers keeper Freddy Hall:'Heart broken, hard day at work.' It was indeed mate.

But back to us, the league leaders, again!

Left winger Dave Martin really started to look the business in only his second game, when he really gets into the swing of things they will cause havoc in opposition back fours, and his first equaliser was pretty good as well!

Martin said: 'It was great to get my first goal for the club so early on and to go top of the league.'

Centre-back Mark Phillips, for once, missed a couple of decent opportunities to score, one must be put down in the sitter camp!

Phillips lamented :'Its sinking in now that I missed that chance to put me on 9 goals....was gutted at time...tried to put too much power on it '

A word from a fan I think, a George Rudman tweeted: 'Get Jack Sampson for rest of the season what a player! And what can u say about Moshni!'

What indeed!

An old player in Luke Daniels tweeted: 'Good to see Southend return to the top of the table '

And a new one in Jack Sampson: 'Great win for the Blues today! Roll on next week. '

Thanks mate, and young Sampson certainly seems to have something a bit special, especially in League Two, and a teenager, blimey, he eat his porridge as a boy!

Mohsni: Celebrates one of his goals for Southend

Mohsni: Celebrates one of his goals for Southend; makes me go all wobbly

But back to Bilel, as we knew it always would do, he really turned the game on it's head when he came on, and for all Cobblers boss Boothroyd's, "I think the clearest thing is that they bring a player on who scores two goals for them. We didn't switch on in the latter stages of the game", it was a bit more than that.

We could see son of Luggy Blair Sturrock have a word in his ear before he came on, what did he say?: 'He told me to calm down.'

Wise words, but he really couldn't have been more devastating when he came on, and the affection and sheer joy that both player and supporters showed to each other, especially after his first, both behind the goal and at the side was genuine and heart felt.

One of those days it was truly great to be a travelling Shrimper, though Luggy looked pretty chuffed as well.

Bilel: 'Everything I do here I owe to the manager. He's great for me and that's why I ran to him when I scored.'

We are top of the league, say we are top of the league!

Bring on the Shrews.
