Sturrock to speak on Shrimpers budget as fans call for a striker!

Last updated : 01 June 2011 By westfield shrimper

With Blues boss Paul Sturrock giving interviews to the local media Wednesday afternoon we should have a better idea what he really has to spend for next season soon enough.

However, amongst the S24 readers who took part in our recent poll the message was clear, 39% want a striker; well, who doesn't.

And with the dreams of a Neil Harris, Wes Thomas, damn it, even a Freddie Eastwood, creully shattered we have the words of the legendary Echo 'source' to tell us on www.echo-news.co.uk: “Paul has drawn up a list of transfer targets and the club are at an advanced stage talking to a forward. Discussions are at a delicate stage and it’s quite a complicated deal but they hope everything can be sorted out because he would be an excellent signing.”

Hope they weren't talking about a certain Millwall scoring legend who lives locally.

Anyway, the club have tweeted the news that Luggy has spoken to Chris Phillips and Glenn Speller 'for Echo/BBC Essex about latest on shaping next season squad.'

So after another sleepless might of tension, we await to hear how much Uncle Ron has decided he can spare to pass on to the boosting of a squad that needs to give top scorer Barry Corr some much needed help next time around, sorry Blair, or a decent promotion push will just not materialise.

At least with Luggy it should raise a smile.

S24 Question: Where do you believe the Shrimpers squad needs to be strengthened?

Central striker 39.0%

Right Wing 14.6%

Left Back 9.8%

Goalkeeper 7.3%

Centre-back 7.3%

Defensive midfield (Central) 7.3%

Right Back 4.9

Attacking midfield (Central) 4.9%

Left Wing 4.9%

And the nearly 10% of you who voted left-back, shame, after Luke Prosser has just signed a new one year deal!

Geez, he must have been cheap.
