Sturrock to decide Shrimpers futures soon enough

Daniels: Available for Shrimpers

Does Luggy want Luke to stay?

So it will soon be January and the transfer rumours can start in earnest; certainly another striker, should we keep an interest in the still available Paul Benson, another centre-back, just how much dosh is in the kitty, will we need to sell anyone first, is anyone really interested?

All will be revealed, but first we have to deal with three very important fixtures against teams in the lower half of the table that will decide if the poor run of six matches without a win is to become a slump and we look at the table after the Daggers match and we find ourselves in mid-table!

However, two players that have been mentioned in dispatches regarding going or staying is goalkeeper Luke Daniels, on loan from Premiership West Brom until after the Dag & red clash on Bank Holiday Monday January 2nd, and former West Ham defender Christain Dailly, who has been training with the squad for over a month now.

Some negative comments about Luke, but personally believe he's stronger than the admirable Glenn Morris and would love to see him see the season out.

Christian Dailly: Worth a place in the squad?

Dailly is tougher, 38, blimey, old Bomber hasn't exactly set Roots Hall alight and he's on a three-year contract, we do need cover for Barker & Phillips, questions still over Luke and, well, Bilel, who knows, see below, but if Blues boss Paul Sturrock thinks he can do the job, he would certainly be cheap.

Echoman Chris Phillips tweeted from the Blues training ground Thursday morning: 'Sturrock to mull over Luke Daniels' and Christian Dailly's futures in the next couple of days.'

While Luggy himself said: “After being with Portsmouth and Peterborough, Christian asked if he could come in to train with us and that suited me fine. He’s a fit laddy who has looked after himself well and he proves that on the training ground every day. We do already have a 37-year-old centre-back at the club (Graham Coughlan) but it is another option for us to think about.”

Mohsni: Future unclear

Yes, it is indeed two red cards this season Bilel

How long though that Luggy will hold off making a decision over the future of Bilel Mohsni remains unclear, he will be available to play against AFC Wimbledon on New Years Eve after serving out his two-match suspension against Bradford City and Aldershot Town on Boxing Day.

Our favourite French Tunisian is currently serving his second suspension of the season having seen red in last week's 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Oldham, with unconfirmed reports suggesting he was also involved in his second dressing room bust-up of the campaign after the club's exit at Boundary Park.

It would be fair to say that Luggy was annoyed with Mohsni after the game and hinted his dismal disciplinary record could jeopardise his future at Roots Hall.

The 24-year-old has since apologised for his costly first-half red card and the consequences of missing out on a potential third-round trip to Liverpool, admitting he wants to stay at the club but is not sure whether the team or Sturrock wants that.

Mohsni may well still receive internal discipline by the League Two club although his future does appear to remain in Essex, with chief executive Tara Brady set to hold talks with Sturrock later this week.

As Brady told the Echo yesterday: "I'm due to have a meeting with Paul and plenty of topics will be spoken about, including Bilel. We will also be talking about transfer targets for the January transfer window."
