Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Sturrock: 'Liam might be thrown on the bench to give us cover'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock has already told his players the starting line-up for Saturday's League Two opener against the Bulls of Hereford United, and which of his forward options will be keeping former Millwall scoring legend Neil Harris company.

S24 believes Bilel Mohsni will get the call to cover injured Barry Corr and Blair Sturrock, as well as the less than fully fit Liam Dickinson.

Sturrock told BBC Essex: "The competition for places is going to be through the young boys, Mohsni and Liam and Harris. It will be two or three weeks until Blair's available. Barry Corr's probably a tad behind him, but Barry plays the game a bit differently from other people, he's a big boy targetman. He wouldn't expend as much energy as others, last year he had no pre-season and came in the first game. Liam is in the half-and-half position, he's done a bit of pre-season, a bit of running and not done enough yet. It's a difficult one to make a decision on him, he might be thrown on the bench to give us cover."

Luggy is sticking to the usual mixture of optimisim mixed with realisim that most managers have at this time of year, even as the canny Scot starts his 19th season as a club boss.

Sturrock explained: "The rest of the teams have not been sitting on their thumbs, if you look at the turnover of players through the division this year it's quite incredible. I'm very confident we have progressed as a squad, I'm confident that with the players we've brought in we're going to be a better team and I'm very confident we'll be in the right area of the league most of the season."

And we hope so too Luggs.

COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!
