Sturrock: Will buy new players

Sturrock: 'Warned him it would have taken swans fever or something like that before he came off'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock found out Monday that No.1 shot stopper Glenn Morris, discolated finger or not, will be able to face Northampton Town on Saturday at the Sixfields after the trainer was brought on for some anxious moments for the home crowd in the second half against after Valiants striker stepped on the poor player!

However, though he's happy his defence kept the Port Vale attack quiet in their 3-0 win at the weekend, he believes in the future if the former Borient keeper grabs at a high ball, he'll make sure he's still got it in both hands if he falls to the ground!

Sturrock told BBC Essex: "Glen coming back to a clean sheet all goes well, he discolated his finger but he's strapped up well and got on with it. In fact it was his fault it got discolated by dropping the ball, so the next time he might think I'll keep hold of it."

Good thing to he carried on, as their were five outfield players only waiting to come on as substitutes!

Sturrock said:"No goalie on the bench, sod's law, but it fact I warned him it would have taken swans fever (!) or something like that before he came off, he should be fine."

Err, we hope so, reserve custodian Daniel Bentley still injured we believe, however awaiting an update there, but it all looks good for Glenn to take on the Cobblers, as he made clear himself.

Morris told www.echo-news.co.uk“I’ll definitely be OK for the Northampton game. We will have to strap the finger up for me to play but I can’t see there being a problem at all. It was put back in but it kept on popping back out so it was all a bit messy. We had to strap the finger up so I could carry on and thankfully I didn’t have too much to do after it happened.”

Might have a bit more on at the weekend but as he also says, having sat on the bench after returning from injury due to loanee Luke Daniels performing so well, Morris doesn't want to see history repeating itself!
