Sturrock: 'it was a game we got plenty from'
Blues boss Paul Sturrock was unsurprisingly pleased after the 5-0 victory at Ryman One North side Needham Market.
Luggy took the chance to take a look at three trialists, left-back Andre Blackman and a brace of forwards in Vincent Pericard and Wilko Risser.
It also gave members on the fringe of the squad to get a decent run around.
Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: “I thought it was definitely a worthwhile exercise and it was a game we got plenty from. There were people in our team who needed another game like Merrick James-Lewis and Alex Woodyard and we were also able to have a look at some more trialists. I don’t think Pericard has looked after himself in terms of fitness but it’s hard to judge players after just one game. I’m glad we had this game though and I’m satisfied with how it went.”
Luggy also confirmed the club remain in transfer talks with Ryan Leonard and Jean Paul Kalala, both of whom would be welcome additions to the squad, but what about that striker, do either of the two turning out at Needham fit the bill?
Maybe not the former Stoke man Pericard!
