Sturrock: Frustrated with himself

Sturrock: 'It’s all been a bit of a nightmare to be honest'

Back at Roots Hall towers Blues boss Paul Sturrock is a worried man as the injury update given in yesterday's S24 has turned into a crisis for the veteran Scotsman.

If the continued absence of last season's top scorer Barry Corr and centre-back Mark Phillips, along with knocks picked up in last weekend's defeat to Burton Albion was not bad enough, flu has broken out amongst the squad!

Shot stopper Glenn Morris and wideboy Ryan Hall are both struggling with the virus while midfielder Jean Paul Kalala has picked up a groin problem and is considered doubtful.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “We have a number of injury problems right now and we are just going to have to see who pulls through to play. It’s certainly not ideal and the doctor has told us Hall really isn’t very well at all. We won’t take chances of him and will just have to wait and see how he’s feeling. It’s the same with Morris and then a number of other players also have knocks we will be checking on. It’s all been a bit of a nightmare to be honest.”

Phillips and former Valiant Luke Prosser will have late fitness tests however, Ryan Leonard, Lee Sawyer, Jemal Johnson, Harry Crawford and Blair Sturrock could all find themselves in the starting line-up at Vale Park.

Luggy might have to pick the former Chelsea youth now, as long as he hasn't started coughing overnight!
