Sturrock: Delighted with result

Sturrock: 'It's of great benefit to (Sampson) to be coming to the sharp end of a team'

If four in eleven days wasn't enough, there might be another one, please let it be a defender, but all the rumours are pointing to another striker, and it's not 'fat' Freddie Eastwood!

After meeting Echoman Chris Phillips at training this morning Blues boss told him of the chance of yet another signing: "it's in the melting pot."

Blimey, I'm getting a headache!

As for the one of those he's got, Luggy is excited at the prospect of seeing loanee striker Jack Sampson from Bolton turning out as a Shrimper, more than liekly against the Cobblers at the weekend.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "He's a big boy, six foot two, left footed with a strong build. He's an exciting prospect and I need a bit of back-up height-wise up front so he fits that bill. He's here for a month and if he excites us we'll extend the loan. It's of great benefit to him to be coming to the sharp end of a team."

However, BBC Essex have reported that Luggy will base his decision on whether to start new signing Jack Sampson on the player's performance in training.

We will wait and see, he's certainly got plenty to choose from, especially as another striker in Elliot Benyon looks to be OK after an ankle problem has seen him miss training all so far this week.
