Is Spud going to make Wycombe the new Blues 'B' team to rival Gillingham?

Lewis made more than 100 appearances for the Shrimpers. He has also represented Derby County 11 times and is seen as the answer to the Buckinghamshire club's problematical right back position following the summer departures of both Russell Martin and Sam Stockley.

He is expected to make his Wycombe debut in Friday's friendly away at Stevenage Borough but is certain to get some game time when Southend visit Adams Park in our last planned friendly before the new season.

Everyone who has been reading my previews over the last two seasons will know I've been fighting in the Lewis corner over that period and I'm suprised a League One club has not got in there. Well done Spud for using those local contacts, he must have seen him enough during the last campaign as he was at most home games after leaving Stevenage.

Strong in the tackle, he gave his best in every game in a Blue shirt. Not always appreciated by sections of the crowd, he could go walkabout at times, I would have kept him in the squad and he certainly kept Francis out for a long period of last season when we needed defensive stabilty which Tilly always appreciated if others did not. Lewis was even in a team of the month as a defender when we were letting in goals all over the place in the Championship!

Good luck mate, I will do my best to make that August 2 game to give him a final TLG send-off, but I will certainly place a few bob on a Wycombe promotion in 2009. However, Gillingham v Wycombe on December the 28th could become an old boy's reunion, come on Kev sign on for the Gills and join the party.
