Spencer: 'I really want to make the most of the opportunity'

Striker Scott Spencer came on for Damien Scannell with only 13 minutes left at the Galpharm Stadium Saturday afternoon, but did enough to give the travelling faithful something to smile about.

As well as scoring his first ever league goal in the 2-1 defeat by the Terriers, he was being a general all round nuisance to the home defence after his first team debut following a couple of months without a club before Tilly took a gamble.

Spencer told the Echo: "I'm very grateful that the manager has taken a chance on me and also put me on in the game and I really want to make the most of the opportunity now. It's a good start for me and hopefully now I can build on it and we can have a good end to the season."

The former Everton trainee is still only 21 and believes his fitness levels are not far short of his best, in fact, he thinks he should have improved on his scoring start!

Scott concluded: "I feel alright and I've been working hard to get even sharper and fully match fit. I thought I should have done better with a couple of through balls before scoring but it was an inch perfect pass from Simon Francis for me and I wasn't going to miss from there."

And you can catch the goal here, sadly with the Terriers two;
