Tilly on Mildenhall: 'He should be OK'

Big Steve Mildenhall is expected to start against the Terriers Saturday after recovering from pelvic and back injuries which has seen him miss Southend's last two fixtures.

Blues boss Steve Tilson told the Echo: "Steve trained yesterday and providing he suffers no reaction then he will be fit to play. We will have to wait and see but he should be OK."

Reserve keeper Ian Joyce would return to the bench.

Sankofa; expected to return in central defence

Osei Sankofa's last match was the win at Stockport last October but he is also likely to make the side at centre back, replacing Sean Morrison who has returned to Swindon.

Hopefully he won't read Tilly's comments about the continued wait for the return to fitness of loanee centre half from Sunderland, Jean Yves M'Voto.

Southend's manager said: "We're not sure when Jean will be back. In an ideal world we would bring in another centre-back but that hasn't happened for us yet."

Simon Francis Meet the blues day 2009.jpg

Tilly on Francis: 'I think he's been one of our most consistent players'

Of course one player who will be in the team is right back Simon Francis who turned down a 150k move to Peterborough as he souldn't agree personal terms.

The Shrimpers boss couldn't hide his relief at having the versitile defender available for the tough trip to West yorkshire.

Tilly said: "It's a big boost for us. I think he's been one of our most consistent players this season and he has a long list of attributes. I would have been disappointed to lose him and I'm glad he's decided to stay."

We will wait and see if new signing Scott Spencer gets a chance to make his first team debut by being named as one of the substitutes.
