Shrimpers shocked by Shots 'scandelous' decision

Daniels: 'Now they'll make a profit out of the replay; '

The Shrimpers squad have joined in the cjorus, from Essex anyway, of disapproval against the Aldershot Town decision not to give a full refund on tickets bought for the Boxing Day debacle that saw the floodlights fail as the game was called off with Southend one-up and ready to start the second half against ten men as a Shots defender had seen red for striking Liam Dickinson.

Of all people loanee keeper Luke Daniels had most the say, and he might be back playing for his parent club in a week's time!

Daniels tweeted: 'Incredible that Aldershot won't be refunding tickets. Surely the League needs to step in and sort it out. Not only do they get to replay a game that was massively going against them but now they'll make a profit out of the replay '

Couldn't agree more, and it's sad that a minority of the Shots faithful can't see the principle behind the anger and just sink back behind lazy cliches and anger, referee Gavin Ward gave the dodgy decisions, we just wanyed to see 90 minutes of football, because that's what we travelled and coughed up for.

On www.shrimperzone.com C'mon you Shrimpers posted: 'Pretty poor show from Aldershot. I usually admire clubs that have gone bust and then claw themselves back up but this is pretty third rate. I think SUFC should be pressing the League for a full independent review of the electrics at the ground and insist we will not play until this review gives the sums up. Aldershot of course will have to pay for the repairs. Let's hope it needs a complete rewire or even better a completely new system. Sorry a bit vindicative but they asked for it.'

No need to apologise.

Paul Shrimper on the same site said: 'SUFC Policy is the same as the Football League policy. Maybe a quite word with the Football League will increase the fine that should surely be on their way. Admission of guilt by saying that there was trouble BEFORE the kick off should hopefully strengthen our case. Aldershot deserve a fine as large as possible. They are making Geoffrey King look like a Customer Service Specialist. Also no terms were on the Aldershot web site prior to the floodlight problem. How were we supposed to know of their terms and conditions if they were not even big enough to publish them on their own web site. P**s ups and Breweries come to mind. Will I be able to attend the replayed game? NO I work during the week so a Tuesday night is a no no. Many thanks for ensuring that I never go to Aldershot again and hope they are relegated very soon. My understanding is that SUFC are trying to have that so called ruling changed so that at least some of the ticket price is refunded. At least our club are trying to make them see sense.'

Not sure there is much they can do sadly.

Jon Day from Leigh on Sea on www.echo-news.co.uk: “I am truly disgusted with the way that Aldershot have handled this situation. We travelled on the coach for three hours through bad traffic on a day that could have been spent with family, only to be shown 45 minutes of hostile football that gets abandoned due to floodlight failure. I’ve heard that the Aldershot officials knew that the floodlights were faulty before the game, yet they still willingly sold tickets to Southend supporters at the gate without informing them of this information. For Aldershot to now announce that they will not be refunding the tickets at all is the final nail in the coffin for me and I can categorically say that I shall never be returning there out of principal.”

Nothing to do here with anybody at the club acting above themselves as many posting on the opposition boards have insisted, Aldershot could have done themselves a favour by behaving in a decent way and giving the game a boost, as well as helping out with the finances in these tough times of both teams supporters.

Still, a healthy FA fine should grab back any revenue they end up gaining from this.

Defender Mark Phillips, as always, was not lost for words: 'Just heard Aldershot will not be refunding tickets for the game which had to be abandoned because of their floodlights failure...scandelous.'

Second that!
