Shrimpers lead chase for Imps defender János Kovács

Janos Kovacs

Big Janos; You wouldn't want to mess with him!

A couple of reports have surfaced in the local paper covering League Two Lincoln City that the club's central defender János Kovács has been transfer listed as his contract comes to an end in the summer, al la Barney.

It also seems that the Hungarian born centre back has fallen out of favour with new Imps boss Chris Sutton, who replaced the man who bought Kovács to Sincil Bank, ex-Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson.

Now seeing as he only cost Lincoln £17,500 from Chesterfield, there are at least three players in front of him for first team action though his side are third from bottom of their division, only a place above the sides that are chucked out of the league, that our main rivals for his signature are Barnet and Luton; he seems right up our street! (He'll be cheap!)

According to Lincoln fan site www.theimp.lincolnfans.co.uk: "Unfortunately, a change of manager has brought Kovacs' first team career to a standstill and he has not made an appearances since late November. Whichever club he opts to sign for, they will receive an old fashioned centre-half: strong in the tackle and a good header of the ball. I wish him well in the future if or when he does leave Lincoln City FC."
