Easton: From zero to hero
Craig Easton: Could be back for the trip to play the Valiants

Shrimpers club captain Craig Easton may well be in line for a surprise return for the League Two clash with Port Vale Saturday afternoon.

The Scottish born midfielder has been on the sidelines for the past month with a calf problem after limping off during the 2-1 defeat at Lincoln City, however he's been training with the first team this week and has an outside chance of going straight back into Luggy's starting line-up.

Let's face it, Captain Craig has a very good chance if he can put one foot in front of the other!

Centre-half Bilel Mohsni, of course, is starting a two-match suspension after being sent off against Accrington Stanley Tuesday evening.

Defender Peter Gilbert went into hostpital Wednesday for an operation to cure his hernia problem and will not be seen again this season, along with poor old centre-back Mark Phillips (groin), though there may be outside chances for fellow left-back Johnny Herd (hamstring) and midfielder Lee Sawyer (ankle).

Rhys Evans and Adam Bouzid will be available to to warm the bench.

Possible Southend United: Morris, Clohessy, Coughlan, Prosser, Barker, Ferdinand, Grant, Easton, Hall, Sturrock, Corr.

Subs: Evans, Nesbitt, Comminges, Woodyard, Bouzid, Soares, Asante.
