A Shrimpers XI will make the short trip to take on Canvey Island at Park Lane in a friendly on Sat July 30th, kick-off 15.00.
That makes seven pre-season matches now arranged but with this game only two days after the Norwich game it could be a chance for some of the youth players to step up, especially as it covers the X1 tag, in fact there might not be a first teamer involved at all!
Southend were due to play their Ryman Premier neighbours last close season but had to pull out when Blues boss Paul Sturrock didn't have enough players at the time to face them!
This fixture has replaced Canvey's away friendly with Folkestone Invicta, which they had to cancel 'in order to host our illustrious Essex neighbours.'
