Hall: Received a 20-week prison sentence
Hall: 'I was happy to stay and sign up for longer'

The Shrimpers exciting winger Ryan Hall cheered everyone up connected with the Essex club after putting pen to paper and extending his present contract for a further two years to keep him at Roots Hall until at least 2013.

Good to see Ryan also put his faith in a club and management that backed him after he was first sentenced to a 20-week jail sentence for affray in March, actually spending a night at Her Majesty's Pleasure, before having his sentence reduced on appeal.

And he wanted to say 'cheers'.

Hall told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I owe the club a lot because they brought me back into the Football League and also stood by me through the problems I had this season. Everyone was great towards me during that time including the chairman, gaffer, my team-mates and the fans, and I want to say thank you for all their support. I really want to help the club do well and I also have a good chance of playing a lot of games here, so I was happy to stay and sign up for longer."

Certainly good news after another difficult week in a difficult year for the Shrimpers faithful.
