Pompey Christophe In, Chelsea Sawyer Out, Southend Macca just wants to play well

At least Blues boss Steve Tilson will be able to play at least one of the 'loanee five' giving the team a mean look in midfield at AFC Telford at the weekend in the first round of the F.A. Cup. Not good news for the Moose!

Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk Tilly confirmed the news: "It's all been sorted and Jean can play for us at the weekend. It's good news for us as I don't think the other loan players we have, (Adam Federici, Dan Harding, Lee Sawyer and Hal Robson-Kanu), will be able to play.

Tough tackling midfielder Alan McCormack is more than happy to step in: "With the loan lads not playing I think I should be in the team and I want to make it as hard as possible to leave me out again. I'm feeling good but it's just about improving my match fitness. That's going to come in time but I know I need to play well at the weekend and that's what I'm aiming to do."

At least we have some competition in the middle of the park but Macca knows he has to do better than the last time he took over from Sawyer at Bristol Rovers.

"I played poorly and that hurts me now. We were all below par though and that's how we ended up getting humiliated. I think we've learnt lessons from that defeat and we have to play well against all the teams, not just the big ones. That's obviously the case on Saturday and we have to make sure we approach it in the right way."

Possible XI: Mildenhall, Sankofa, Clarke, Masters, Francis, Betsy, McCormack, Christophe, Scannell, Revell, Laurent.

The final two depending on the fitness of Barnard and Freedman, but I can't see Tilly taking a chance on them with Tranmere away the following week.
